Board member roles and responsibilities
Chairman - 32 hour per-year commitment
The chair convenes regularly scheduled board meetings, presides or arranges for other members of the Executive Committee to preside at each meeting in the following order: vice-chair, secretary, treasurer.
The vice-chair will chair committees on special subjects as designated by the board. Additional duties include:
The secretary will keep records of board actions, including overseeing the taking of minutes at all board meetings, sending out meeting announcements, distributing copies of minutes and the agenda to each board member, and assuring that corporate records are maintained. Additional duties include:
The treasurer makes a report at each board meeting. The treasurer will chair the finance committee, help prepare the budget, help develop fundraising plans, and make financial information available to board members and the public. Additional duties include:
Board members are responsible to guide and provide insights to the Executive Director to promote organizational best practices. Additional duties include:

- Communicate monthly with Executive Director regarding essential business operations ( 2 hours per month-24 hours per year)
- Participate in all scheduled quarterly board meetings to review and approve organizational policy and direction (2 hours per quarter - 8 hours per year)
- Participate in committees and special events as available (Optional).

- Dictate and distribute quarterly board meeting notes to fellow members after meetings (1 hours per quarter - 4 hours per year)
- Participate in all scheduled quarterly board meetings to review and approve organizational policy and direction (2 hours per quarter - 8 hours per year)
- Participate in committees and special events as available (Optional).
